Some early 2015 Updates

2015 has began with some new features added to Canto Mensurable. We are currently working on a new resource page gathering a collection of Portuguese early music discography. Some works are very-well known since they were recorded by known groups or released through known labels, but others have been overshadowed from the public due to small-scale releases, but are important contributes to the sounding of Portuguese polyphony.

Regarding the sound, we are also resuming another resource on the website regarding the sound cartography of the historical organs of the Azores archipelago. This was an important objective of our work in the historical soundscapes studies of music in the Azores, and we are now gradually collecting samples of the instruments’ sounds adding some historical and context perspectives through articles on the blog.

2025 also started another resource which is a collection of Portuguese composers short biographies which gathers information from articles published on the blog under the subtitle “a biographical note”. These have been so far not-so-well-known composers and will gradually be growing as the articles will be published.

We are also closing the year volume for posts in the blog for 2023 to be published soon. The 2024 volume is also now on a good pace. These two years have been behind due to the conclusion of the editor’s PhD which delayed much of the editorial and graphic work on the publications.

Music editions have been paused for a while due to these projects that need conclusion and have kicked-off but we plane to release a couple more issues on our collections until next June.
